The single parcel of “Chambrates” is planted to a mix of caillottes and terre blanches, and faces due south. The topsoil of clay and pebbles sits over a bed of pure, chalky limestone, in a very similar fashion to the best terroirs of Burgundy. It’s considered the broadest, most textured wine in the bunch. It still hums with Vacheron’s trademark mineral tension, but there’s a muscularity to it that owes at least in part to the full-south exposure of the site.
