1999 Taken From Granite, Cabernet Sauvignon "Soleil"
he TFG 99 Soleil is the re-labeled Renaissance 99 Cabernet Sauvignon “Permière Cuvée”: 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot. This “Reserve level” cuvée, as we referred to this tier wines at Renaissance, was both a vineyard site selection (only the top tier ’slopes’ were used, such as Slope 1, 16, and 21) as well as a strict barrel selection, where a small number of barrels (selected by yours truly) were used for the final product. The quantity originally produced was 420 cases, compared to about 12,000 for the ‘Estate’ Cabernet Sauvignon.
