Fabio Gea, “DNAss” Vino Rosso

When it comes to enigmatic Piedmontese wine, Fabio Gea dominates the contemporary throne, and should you be fortunate enough to stumble upon one of his cryptic, handmade bottles, you’ve struck gold. Anything beyond that is generally reserved for vinous folklore…or so we thought: Today marks the extraordinarily rare opportunity to acquire not one, not two, but three of Gea’s all-natural Vino Rosso bottlings.

They are from his, shall we euphemistically say, “backside series,” which is believed to be Gea’s subtle way of dismissing Piedmont’s rigid wine regulations. And while all three cuvées are (1) from organically farmed micro-parcels, (2) vinified in handbuilt porcelain and stoneware vessels, and (3) bottled unfined/unfiltered without sulfur, they are emphatically singular creations. To own one of these extremely rare and hyper-allocated bottles, let alone three, is a major victory. All purchases must be limited to 12 total bottles. Mix and match to your choosing—you cannot go wrong here!

Northwestern Italy

Piedmont

Italy’s Piedmont region is really a wine “nation”unto itself, producing world-class renditions of every type of wine imaginable: red, white, sparkling, sweet...you name it! However, many wine lovers fixate on the region’s most famous appellations—Barolo and Barbaresco—and the inimitable native red that powers these wines:Nebbiolo.

Tuscany

Chianti

The area known as “Chianti” covers a major chunk of Central Tuscany, from Pisa to Florence to Siena to Arezzo—and beyond. Any wine with “Chianti” in its name is going to contain somewhere between 70% to 100% Sangiovese, and there are eight geographically specific sub-regions under the broader Chianti umbrella.
