Elena Fucci, Aglianico del Vulture ‘Titolo’ DOCG

This 100% Aglianico straddles the rusticity of Southern Itay and the polish and seductiveness of Barolo. In the glass, the 2019 Titolo is a deep, nearly opaque ruby moving to garnet at the rim, with explosive aromas of crushed blackberries, black cherries, violets, grilled herbs, espresso, tobacco, grilled meat, and pulverized black stones. On the palate, it has a brooding, forceful quality and seamless texture from beginning to end. Like a top-flight Cru Barolo, this bottling will have the ability to age for multiple decades. For less patient, aerate for 45 to 60 minutes and serve right at 60-62 degrees to de-emphasize the tannins and to bring out the beautiful black and blue fruit.

Italy

Northwestern Italy

Piedmont

Italy’s Piedmont region is really a wine “nation”unto itself, producing world-class renditions of every type of wine imaginable: red, white, sparkling, sweet...you name it! However, many wine lovers fixate on the region’s most famous appellations—Barolo and Barbaresco—and the inimitable native red that powers these wines:Nebbiolo.

Tuscany

Chianti

The area known as “Chianti” covers a major chunk of Central Tuscany, from Pisa to Florence to Siena to Arezzo—and beyond. Any wine with “Chianti” in its name is going to contain somewhere between 70% to 100% Sangiovese, and there are eight geographically specific sub-regions under the broader Chianti umbrella.
