Give the gift of our Somm 6 club without the commitment!
The SommSelect team tastes hundreds of wines each month, but only six are chosen for our Somm 6 club subscription. Our main criteria? That they be the wines we most want to take home for ourselves.
Somm 6 is for wine lovers who crave variety and new sensations. It’s also for anyone who appreciates authenticity and value. Our expert team curates a diverse selection of artisanal wines, provides detailed information on each bottle, then ships the whole package right to your door.
This one-time Gift Pack option is a great choice for the curious connoisseur in your life. Here’s what’s in the box*:
Domaine des Brangers, Menetou-Salon
Loire Valley, France 2019
Fermented and aged in stainless steel, the wine’s limestone origins shine through with crystalline purity. The palate is medium-bodied with great density to the fruit and a deep, steely mineral core, all of it elevated by a wash of juicy acidity. This is everything there is to love about Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc.
Domaine Sigalas, “AM” Assyrtiko-Monemvasia
Aegean Islands, Greece 2019
The Greek island of Santorini is producing some of the world’s most thrilling and intensely mineral white wines from the Assyrtiko grape. And although you’ll only find a dozen or so estates sprinkled across the island, a few demand our undivided attention. One of them is Domaine Sigalas: it’s on our short list of “must experience” producers.
Dominikaner-Keller, “Kaseler Dominikanerberg” Riesling Kabinett
Mosel, Germany 2016
This wine is for the most passionate, die-hard German Riesling lovers. The producer? An 11-generation, 351-year Riesling powerhouse. The vineyard? A small yet exceptional monopole clinging to 400 million-year-old blue slate slopes. The production size? Tiny, with just 250 cases distributed across the globe. Truly, this terroir supernova has it all, including a classic and specially requested label that pays tribute to the Dominican monks of centuries past.
Ronchi di Manzano, Colli Orientali del Friuli Merlot
Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy 2018
Serious Merlot is not just a Friulian signature but a variety that has been embraced throughout the Italian peninsula—to the point where most of the world’s most sought-after Merlot wines outside Bordeaux are Italian. This glossy, voluptuous 2018, which aged 12 months in French oak barrels of various sizes, is a far cry from the “lean and green” styles of Merlot some Italian old-timers may associate with the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region. And, despite its deep concentration, also displays good freshness and energy.
LIOCO Wine Company, “La Selva” Pinot Noir
Anderson Valley, California 2019
The LIOCO winery itself is in a cooperative facility in Santa Rosa, but their grower-partners span 200 miles across Mendocino, Sonoma, and Santa Cruz counties. This Anderson Valley Pinot Noir is a regional bottling with single-vineyard street cred: Half of this ’19 comes for the “Abel” vineyard, with the remainder from the “Kiser En Bas” and “Edmeades” vineyards.
Ada Nada, Barbaresco “Valeirano”
Piedmont, Italy 2017
Single-vineyard Nebbiolo excellence! The village of Treiso is one of the three key villages that comprise the Barbaresco DOCG zone (the others are Barbaresco itself and Neive). “Valeirano” is one of the village’s most noteworthy crus, or MGAs, with a southwest-facing exposition and soils containing the classic mix of marl and sandstone.
