Michael Browne Bio
Michael co-founded his first California winery, Kosta Browne, in 1997 with a few hundred dollars and the goal of helping people create meaningful moments. The winery quickly became known for producing exceptional Pinot Noirs and was awarded Wine Spectator’s #1 Wine of the Year in 2011. While at Kosta Browne, his vision for CIRQ first took shape in 2009 when he followed his passion to make delicious wines from the most exceptional vineyard sites in the Russian River Valley. The goal was to provide Pinot Noir enthusiasts with wines of uncommon breeding that delight their senses and connect them to these special places. Having dreamt of one day owning their own vineyards and estate winery, Michael transitioned away from Kosta Browne, and he his wife Sarah founded Browne Family Wines in the spring of 2018. CIRQ and Michael’s new wine, CHEV, are now their sole (and soul) focus.
Inspired by his love of old school craftsmanship, CHEV pays tribute to the industrial age with wines crafted from vineyards in his backyard and beyond. From classic cars to vintage clocks, CHEV pays tribute to the bygone days when artisans crafted in their forge and the raw was hand-wrought to expert precision. Crafted in a style all its own, CHEV is unbounded by region, born from exceptional vineyards, near and far.
