2023 Weingut Martin Tesch, Riesling Trocken, "Laubenheimer Karthäuser"

A few weeks ago, we introduced a stunning single-site Martin Tesch Trocken Riesling that struck all the right chords with its bright acidity and clean mineral profile. Now, we’re offering select VIP members access to a small reserve of its sister bottling: the 2023 “Karthäuser” Trocken Riesling, crafted in honor of the Martin family's 300th anniversary in Germany’s Nahe region.

Tesch has long been known for exceptional value, and recent acclaim from Vinous Media, Wine Advocate, and James Suckling confirms that the quality is soaring. This bottling showcases a balance of exotic fruit, fine acidity, and a precise mineral edge—ideal for anyone who appreciates Riesling at its best.

Named after the silent devotion of medieval Carthusian monks, the Karthäuser vineyard rises like a natural amphitheater above Laubenheim. Its southwest-facing slope captures generous afternoon sunlight, while the weathered sandstone soils absorb and radiate warmth, allowing Riesling grapes to ripen early, evenly, and with remarkable concentration

We recommend picking up a six-pack or building a mix case with their 2023 single-vineyard “St. Remigiusberg” Trocken. It’s a perfect duo, especially paired with spicy seafood noodles like Vietnamese-Style Spicy Crab with Garlic Noodles—an inspired combination of bold flavor and elegance.

Press Accolades:

97 Points, James Suckling:

“What a radical riesling and what radical freshness. The soul of the samurai sword and the brilliant shine of its blade. Very sleek and focused on the medium-bodied palate, but this is the simplistic side of the wine’s description. Extremely long finish that ends in an excitingly sharp point

95 Points, Wine Advocate:

“ … deep, pure and refined but impressively intense and aromatic on the beautifully balanced and distinctive nose that intermingles concentrated, ripe fruit aromas with finely weathered terroir notes from red sandstone. Accordingly generous and juicy yet always fine and crystalline on the palate, this is a mouth-filling, as if not fully dry, yet very elegant and generous … sensual and silky-textured Riesling with generous fruit and an exceptionally long and intense finish.
