While most would find a seven-year-old entry-level Bourgogne Blanc starting to lose its energy appeal, this effort is singing on a Premier Cru level with plenty of life ahead of it. We were simply floored by the quality. Vincent and Sophie Morey source their Bourgogne Chardonnay from four parcels: one in Puligny, one in Chassagne, and two in Santenay. All single vineyard sites. The 2014 has a lovely, elegant nose that suggests Puligny Montrachet. Bright and clear with hints of melon, spiced apple, and anise. The finish is balanced with a hint of butterscotch and vanilla cream. It has an energy lift and freshness of a wine half its age.
