E. Guigal’s famed Côte-Rôtie “La La” wines—La Landonne, La Mouline, and La Turque—are among the most iconic expressions of Syrah in the world. Though they share a common origin, each wine has a distinct personality shaped by terroir.
2020 La Mouline is the most seductive and aromatic of the trio. 100% sourced from the Côte Blonde, it includes about 11% Viognier, which lends it a lifted floral perfume and a silky, almost ethereal texture. The La Landonne is the most brooding and ag-worthy. Made entirely from Syrah grown on the schist-rich slopes of the Côte Brune, it’s a dense, tannic powerhouse. The La Turque, from the Côte Brune, is the most exotic and opulent. It blends Syrah with a small percentage of Viognier. It bridges the elegance of La Mouline and the muscle of La Landonne.
Each of these wines spent over 40 months in new French oak, a hallmark of Guigal’s élevage, which adds polish and longevity. The 2020 vintage overall is considered exceptional—combining the structure of 2016 with the richness of 2018—making it a standout year for collectors and enthusiasts alike.

2020 “La Landonne”
Jeb Dunnuck, 100 Points
“Black fruits, smoke, graphite, crushed stone, and bloody nuances all emerge from the 2020 Côte Rôtie La Landonne, a magical, flawless Côte Rôtie that will need serious cellaring. Made from 100% Syrah and aged 42 months in new French oak, it's full-bodied and concentrated on the palate, with building tannins and incredible structure.”
Wine Advocate, 98-100 Points
“The undisputed star of the cellar this vintage (at least at this stage), the 2020 Cote Rotie La Landonne is not only unbelievably complex on the nose—with an awesome stew of vegetal-herbal nuances blended with cassis and smoked meat—but full-bodied, concentrated, velvety-textured and remarkably long and tannic. Patience will be required.”

2020 “La Mouline”
Jeb Dunnuck, 100 Points
“Spring flowers, roasted herbs, graphite, chocolate, and scorched earth intermixed with blackberries … it's full-bodied, rich, and textured, with violets and smoked meats emerging with time in the glass. This concentrated, pure, super-rich, and sexy wine has flawless overall balance, ultra-fine tannins, and sensational length.”
Vinous Media, 98 Points
“ … La Mouline is a masterpiece. Crushed violet, black cherry, graphite, olive tapenade, crushed rocks and cedar notes race out of the glass. A shot of espresso and minty shadings add further complexity. Stacked with ample flavor concentration and impressive depth, the 2020 hails from the glass with a vivid, energetic lift that races through from start to finish. Moreover, the round, sweet and gently enveloping tannins are remarkably refined and integrated for such a young wine, suggesting that the 2020 won’t require as much time to come around as usual.”

“2020 La Turque”
James Suckling, 98 Points
“The nose is like what you smell when you enter a spice market in the Far East. Great concentration and underplayed power on the full-bodied palate, but also graceful, the generous dose of toasty oak almost perfectly integrated. Extremely long finish that keeps on pumping out the berry fruit, butter, orange and stone character.”
Vinous Media, 96-99 Points
“ … shaping up to be terrific. Bold and supremely complex, it unwinds with expressive mocha, ripe black fruits, cured meat, pencil shavings and cedarwood nuances. Refreshing acidity neatly balances the elevated flavor concentration, all framed by a firm yet polished tannic corset. Simply put, the 2020 La Turque is a wine of class and precision, with notable inner energy and verticality.
