By combining organic agriculture, native yeast fermentation, and old-world cellar techniques, RAEN elevates coastal micro-terroirs into world-class art. Their devotion to site clarity has quickly established RAEN as one of the most acclaimed and sought-after wine houses in the Americas.

The inaugural debut of "Pacific Rock" from the famous McDougall vineyard earned a perfect 100-point score for its rare balance of power and haunting finesse. Surfacing with intense notes of black cherry, iron ore, iodine, and lavender, it coats the palate with dense, savory complexity anchored by crushed-slate salinity. Musigny-like in its persistence and structure, this landmark debut represents the pinnacle of high-elevation, coastal-influenced Pinot Noir.

Critical Acclaim:

99 Points, James Suckling:

"An incredible debut wine, showing beautiful aromas of strawberries, cantaloupe, flint and dried seaweed, as well as iodine and dried flowers. Medium- to full-bodied, with Musigny-like power, a magical flex of tannins and closed, poised fruit. Endless. Nothing like this in California pinot noir. Drinkable now, but wait five years if you have the patience."

95 Points, Vinous Media:

"A new wine in this range, the 2024 Pinot Noir Pacific Rock emerges from McDougall, a well-known site in Fort Ross-Seaview. Bold and explosive, the 2024 possesses tremendous textural depth and intensity. Dark-toned fruit, new leather, cedar, cloves, menthol and licorice fill out the layers. This imposing, broad-scaled Pinot has a lot to offer. There’s a bit of toughness in the tannin that needs to be addressed, but this is nevertheless a very fine debut. I expect the Pacific Rock will continue to improve now that the vineyard is being transitioned to organic farming, a process that takes 7-10 years to show full results."

Why You'll Love It

Single-vineyard site planted on fractured oceanic shale and rock high above the Pacific fog.

Offers a darker, more mineral and structured profile within RAEN's single-vineyard portfolio.

Expresses dark red cherries, black tea, iron ore, and crushed gravel minerality.

How To Serve It

Serve at a cool room temperature between 58°F and 62°F.

Decant for 45 minutes to allow its tightly wound structure to open up.

Pour into Burgundy stems to channel its complex aromatics.

Pair with roasted lamb chops, pan-seared pork loin, or wild mushroom ragù.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0551/3628/8822/files/2024RAEN_PinotNoirPacificRockVineyard_FortRoss-Seaview.png?v=1790620788
