Keermont winery and vineyards are located in the shadow of the famed Gaurdian Peak that lies between the Stellenbosch and Helderberg mountain ranges. The “Estate Reserve is the winery’s flagship red blend that has been inspired by a Right Bank Bordeaux with a small addition of Syrah to bolster the color and sauvage-like element. The wine is aged for two years in French barrique (20% new) and then it aged for another 36-months in the bottle before release. We fell in love with how this blend is firing on all cylinders. Distinctively South African, but echoes nuances that will impress Napa Cab lovers and Bordeaux enthusiasts alike.

Neal Martin of Vinous Media considers winemaker, Alex Starey a rising star in Stellenbosch for his deft hand with Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. For us, the quality soars well above its price tag! Take its Venetian red hue with complex aromas of wild mountain berries and crushed rose petals. The palate continues with the dark berry spectrum interwoven with savory herbs, lead pencil, black licorice, and iron filings. Impressively integrated with
subtle tannins that carry the fruit and oak spice elegantly from the mid-palate to the finish. This is a savvy pickup for those who like a Bordeaux inspired blend with some bottle age.
