On the palate, the wine is compact and vibrant, showing "yoga-like power" where the density of old vines meets a bracing, saline mineral core. Notes of yellow plum and toasted hazelnut emerge on the mid-palate, but the finish is all about precision: a long, zesty, and intensely chalky tail that leaves a lingering impression of crystalline purity. Drink now with a 20-minute decant, or cellar through 2035 to watch the reductive notes evolve into a complex, honeyed opulence.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0551/3628/8822/files/2022AlbertJoly_Puligny-MontrachetLesReuchaux.png?v=1773087707
2023-domaine-des-comtes-lafon-puligny-montrachet-aoc
2023 Domaine des Comtes Lafon, Puligny-Montrachet AOC

While Dominique Lafon is practically synonymous with Meursault, his mastery extends comfortably across the border into Puligny-Montrachet. Domaine des Comtes Lafon applies the exact same exacting biodynamic standards and meticulous cellar practices to their entire lineup, resulting in site-expressive wines that capture the distinct personality of their respective villages. It is a brilliant study in terroir, trading the broad-shouldered richness of Meursault for piercing focus and structural tension.
