Due to the restrictions of many state laws, we only ship wine to those states where direct shipment is permitted by law. For questions about shipping or for help placing an order, please email email@example.com.
All packages are shipped using UPS and select carriers (where available) and our shipping prices include packaging materials. You will be notified by email when your wines are shipped. In an effort to protect your wine, please be aware that your order may be held for ideal weather and shipping conditions.
Adult Signature Required
It is highly recommended that you ship to a business or office, where someone can sign when the carrier attempts delivery. Extra time on the delivery truck can have an adverse effect on your wine.
When placing an order from SommSelect, the following options will appear during these Summer months: Climate-Controlled Ground; Climate-Controlled Ground with Ice Pack; Ground; Ground with Ice Pack; Build a Case; and Summer Hold. Please choose the best option for you (availability will vary based on your shipping location).
Climate-Controlled Ground (No Additional Charge)
Your wines are packed and shipped out each week in a climate-controlled truck to a carrier hub near your location. The carrier’s origination scan (UPS, LSO, etc.) will occur at the hub and they will ship your package via standard Ground. (Please Note: the climate-controlled truck picks up from SommSelect on Thursday and leaves Friday for your hub. You should expect your delivery 7-14 days after your initial order.)
Climate-Controlled Ground with Ice Pack ($10)
This is the best and safest option. It’s the same as Climate-Control Ground, but your package will be opened at the hub, an Ice Pack will be inserted, the box is re-sealed, and will ship to you on the Ground truck.
Ground Shipping from our warehouse in Sonoma, CA. This is not advisable during Summer shipping conditions.
Ground with Ice Pack ($3)
Ground Shipping from our warehouse in Sonoma, CA with an Ice Pack.
Build a Case
You can choose to Build a Case at checkout. It’s just the same as before—order bottles until you reach a full case and no additional shipping charges will be applied. Once you Build a Case, we will pack and ship it automatically. You'll receive a confirmation email once your wines have shipped out.
Summer Hold (No Additional Charge)
We will hold your packages in our climate-controlled warehouse in Sonoma, CA over the summer. Your packages will automatically ship when temperatures have cooled in your region. Typically, weather will permit us to safely ship your wine beginning in October/November.
If you live in the San Francisco Bay Area and you’d like to come by to pick up your wine, you may do so at no additional cost. We are available Monday thru Friday, 10 am to 4 pm. To ensure your orders are available before you arrive, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule your pickup.
Please note that if the weather is too extreme in your area at the time of shipping, we may hold onto your shipment to protect the quality of the wine. We will automatically ship it out to you once we see the weather is milder.
State Compliance Laws
Due to ever changing direct-shipping laws and regulations, the list of states that we ship to may change at any time. All wines are sold in California and title passes to the buyer in California. We will arrange for shipment on behalf of the buyer, to an address specified by the buyer, provided that in our sole discretion we believe that such shipment will not subject us to the risk of any sort of legal action or other harm. If a buyer lives in a state where the direct shipment of wine may violate the law, we will contact the buyer to discuss shipping options, which options may include provision of an alternative shipping address in a state where the direct shipment of wines to consumers is permitted or storage of the wines at an acceptable third-party storage facility.
